Sigma DP2

As a professional photographer (yes, you are on my IT site where I am temporarily hosting my photo blog), I had been looking for a ‘Point & Shoot’ style camera that would give me the quality of a DSLR.  I decided to go with the Sigma DP2 because it is a PS with an APS sized sensor.  Expensive – $650 for the body, add extra battery, lens hood, filters, etc.., and you are close to $800.  Initial reaction from most folks – “Oh!  I can buy a Nikon/Canon DSLR with a kit lens for that kind of money!!!”  True.  But, I need something I can carry with me at all times.

Amongst other things that make this camera unique and quirky (will get to that in a sec), is that it uses FOVEON X3 technology.

Here on this page and related posts, I am going to document my experiences with the DP2.  Everything – from the manual, included items, optional accessories I purchased, etc..  If you want more intellectual stuff like how the graph for the light penetrating the lens at 67 degree angle of refraction, please look elsewhere.
